Rural Development
Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM)
Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM) is a poverty alleviation project implemented by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. This scheme is focused on promoting self-employment and the organization of rural poor. The basic idea behind this program is to organize the poor into SHG (Self Help Groups) groups to start some entrepreneurial activities and make them capable for self-employment.
Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM)
The Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (S.P.M.R.M.) is based on the understanding that a large portion of the rural areas of the country are not isolated villages, but rather parts of clusters of villages that are relatively close to each other. These clusters generally indicate the potential for development, act as economic drivers, and benefit locally as well as competitively. Therefore, a case is being made for solid policy directives for such clusters. Once these clusters develop, they can be classified as ‘Rurban.’ Keeping this in mind, the Government of India has proposed the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (S.P.M.R.M.), which aims to develop such rural areas by providing economic, social, and physical infrastructure facilities.
Apart from the economic perspective, in order to optimize the benefits of the groups and the advantages of basic infrastructure arrangements, the mission aims to develop 300 urban groups over the next five years. These groups will be strengthened with the necessary facilities, for which it is proposed that resources be mobilized through the implementation of various government schemes. For the centralized development of these groups, serious gap funding (CGF) will be provided under this mission.
