Department of Good Governance and Information Technology

Department of Good Governance and Information Technology has been created to improve internal Governance by introducing reforms in the present system of governance and to achieve good governance through the use of IT tools. DGR is the nodal agency of state government for e-governance initiatives in different departments.

DGR is executing various e-governance projects under National e-Governance Program (NeGP) and State e-Governance program with the help of its implementing agency-Punjab State e-Governance Society(PSeGS).

Punjab State e-Governance Society(PSeGS)

PSeGS societies are formed by DGR for monitoring the implementation of e-governance projects. The objective behind the formation of society is to take all the necessary steps to promote transparency, efficiency in the implementation of e-governance projects.

The government of Punjab provides different types of services – G2C, G2B, G2E with the help of their delivery channel like Sewa Kendras. Sewa Kendras are used as a common front end for various departments. Sewa Kendras offers the facility to integrate with automated backend and also those departments which are processing the application manually.

For effective implementation of this project; DGR and PSeGS deployed field level manpower at the district as:-

  • District Technical Coordinator (DTC) deployed by DGR
  • District e-Governance Coordinator (DeGC) deployed by PSeGS
  • Assistant District e-Governance Coordinator (ADeGC) deployed by PSeGS

e-Sewa is the software that is used to deliver services in Sewa Kendras. The complete software has been developed in-house by the Software Cell established in the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS).The software is still in the development stage in which services are being added regularly. Currently, there are 41 Sewa Kendras in the urban and rural areas of the District.
