NIC District computer centre Amritsar has implemented various projects (Central & State Government departments) and providing technical support:

Projects implemented in the District
  1. ICS (Immigration Control System ): Immigration Control System assists the Bureau of Immigration to facilitate easy and quick clearance of all departing & arriving international passengers. Ensures no-compromise on the security of the country by the help of an effective search algorithm & a strong database design and architecture. A very user friendly totally menu driven system which can perform all queries and reports .100% uptime of the front end services which was possible only because of a strong fail safety and switch over mechanism. Passport Readable Machines (PRM) installed at all the counter of all the three check posts which captures Passport parameters by just swapping the Passport & provides details to software . Project is successfully running at Guru Ramdas International Airport, Attari Road & Attari Rail checkpost .Monitoring of all the checkposts is provided in the FRRO (foreignerís Regional Registration Office) office Amritsar. All the four locations are connected through Leased Line .

  2. DACNET (Department of Agriculture & Co operative NETwork) Project:In a major initiative towards e-governance department started providing computerized services with the help of Application Registration Software & Quarantina Software at RPQS (regional Plant Quarantine Station) and Attari Border Amritsar. Registration of application received and generation of the certificates viz PSC (Phytosanitary Certificate) ,IP(Import Permit) & IRO (Import Release Order) is fully computerized.Data generated by both the software is transmitted regularly to Regional Plant Quarantine Stations and the Directorate of Plant protection , Quarantine & Storage headquarters for analyzing the data to improve the plant quarantine service . Data is available on http://dacnet.nic.in website. Both the locations are connected through Leased Line.

  3. E-Governance in Joint DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade ) office : Computerisation of Export/Import code allotment ,Receipt & Issue of applications ,Duty Entitlement Passbook ,Export promotion of capital goods . Online filing of applications by import/export parties is also supported.

  4. SUWIDHA (Single User-friendly WIndow Disposal and Help Line for Applicants): SUWIDHA is a single window service to deliver district administration services to the citizens , providing the convenience to the citizen by capturing the input at a single point and defining a specified delivery date depending upon the type of service .Accepting cash at the counter itself & ensuring timely delivery without any need to interact with the concerned branch . Project successfully running in SUWIDHA centre of Deputy Commissioner office , SDM offices and Subtehsil level . Status of SUWIDHA Applications is available at http://amritsar.nic.in and http://suwidha.nic.in websites.

  5. PRISM (Property Registration Information System Module): Automates all major activities of Sub-Registrar office through a single window service .Covers deeds of Sale, Mortgage, Will, Adoption, SPA & GPA. Exchange, Pattanama / Lease, Tatima, Cancellation of SPA/GPA/Will etc .Capturing, storage & printing of photographs on stamp paper .Valuation of property, on the spot registration etc . Software is successfully running at all the four Tehsils & five Sub-Tehsils of District Amritsar .

  6. iTISP (integerated Treasuries Information System) Project: Online system for automation of district treasuries in Punjab .Verification of messenger and DDO by photograph and signature .Computerized cheque printing .Linkage with budget, AG accounts & bank .Payments, receipts, pension, LOC & stamp sections fully computerised .Daily receipt & payment figures are transmitted to HQ. & available on treasury department web site at www.khazana.nic.in

  7. ALIS (Arms Licencing Issuance System): Software supports services like new Licence, renewal of Licence, Weapon entry, addition of Weapon, deletion of Weapon, change of address etc. Successfully implemented with all the services.

  8. AIS (Affidavit Issuance System): System helps in bringing transparency in affidavit attestation system as deponentís photograph is captured & printed on backside of the stamp paper & delivered instantly after attestation.

  9. Video Conferencing: Video conference in Amritsar is functional from 26/2/2002. Time to time VC sessions are conducted between District Officers & Punjab Civil Secretariats. No of VCís conducted including SIC Punjab & CIC under RTI act.

  10. Website of Amritsar District: Amritsar district is online through URL http://amritsar.nic.in website. It contains important information related to district like history, important contact number, tourist places, important towns,List of deputy Commissiners etc. Contents of the site are provided by District Administration

  11. DSSO office: Various pension schemes like Old age pension, Financial Assistance to Dependent Children, Financial Assistance to Widows & Destitute, Financial Assistance to Disabled Person. Data of Pension disbursement is available on Amritsar portal

  12. Payroll Package & GPF Package: Implemented the software for printing of monthly pay slips as well as for printing of GPF Schedules of DCís office employees and other offices at District level.

  13. Elections: Round the clock technical support provided to District Administration for Assembly Elections , Lok sabha elections ,Panchayat Elections & Municipal Corporation Elections. DISE s/w developed by NIC PSU used for Polling staff entry ,Randomisation, Making of polling parties ,Attendance register generation , EVM ,Micro observer & Counting staff randomization.

  14. eCourts: Under this Project LAN setup in all the Courts of Amritsar District and application Software implemented

  15. NKN (National Knowledge Network): Under this project Leased Line connectivity provided to Govt Medical College, Govt Dental College and Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar

  16. NADRS (NATIONAL ANIMAL DISEASE REPORTING SYSTEM )Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (DADF), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India has initiated the project "National Animal Disease Reporting Systems (NADRS)" in all States, for which the relevant communications from the DADF are resting with the State Department. To implement the project, in collaboration with the State Department. Under the NADRS project, ICT infrastructures have been created at all the Blocks & District . NIC has organized training for the senior officers of the department on computer basics & demonstrated NADRS applications .Hardware & VPNoBB connectivity have been provided at all the blocks of District AMRITSAR & Tarn Taran.

Special Happenings
  • PMO office setup during visit of Honorable PM S. Manmohan Singh & Honorable President Abdul Kalam during 400th anniversary of installaton of Shri Guru Granth Sahib . During every visit technical support is being provided on 24x7 basis.

  • Video conference setup at Jalandhar for launch of PTUís tele education system by Honorable President Abdul Kalam from President House. Media centre setup during oath taking ceremony of Deputy CM of Punjab.

  • E-governance applications like SUWDIHA,ALIS, Affidavit,PRISM etc were demonstrated in Commonwealth & ICT Exhibition Train during its visit on 25th & 26th June 2010.
